Maremne: Landes (Biscay)

The Maremne (Latin maritimu ) is a former viscount centered on the old delta of the Adour, Bayonne now disappeared after got the opportunity to "hijack" the river to his advantage through the new mouth of Boucau. The main town of Capbreton Maremne is the last port before Gascon miles of dunes that do not stop at Arcachon. Basque toponymy is still quite evident: Tyrosse, Joost (formerly Aiossa) Tosse (Atossa), Hossegor, Seignosse (Sinossa), ... which must be added the parishes such missing or qu'Oroch Orgossa. Unsurprisingly, the sample is dominated by the kinds of obvious affinity Gascon stating very ethnic features: head triangular, long and convex nose, high cheekbones, ... It also meets with individuals more brachymorphic.

We can finally ignore the presence of a fairly typical type - one could say that "Atlantis" - the Landes coast characterized by a clear complexion (blue eyes, blond or brown hair, ...) and a certain robustness (more features bouffis, tête plus large, ...).

Eventually, one has to notice the existence of a specific coastal Landais type - that could be labelled as Atlantid - characterized by a light complexion (blue eyes, blonde or chestnut hair, ...) and robusticity (puffier features, larger face, ...).

alpinoïdes types are quite rare in this sample: there are again some propensity physical types of clear complexion, but nothing systematic. Again, it should be noted that the cheekbones are a fairly common trait.
