Aubrac: Aveyron (Rouergue)

The Monts d'Aubrac is a plateau which straddles three distinct regions heirs of Gallic cities: Ruteni of Rouergue, the Gevaudan Gabali and Auvergne Arverni. The Aubrac is attested Altobraco in ancient texts, perhaps to link with Celtic braco meaning "wet": it seems that the region has long been forest before development in the Middle Ages through Christian institutions.

The Mounts of Aubrac plateau has constituted Three distinct regions spanning heir to Gaulish cities: the Ruteni's Rouergue, tea & the Gevaudan's Gabali Arverna's Auvergne. Aubrac Used To Be Known as Altobraco in ancient Latin texts, it Might Be related to Gaulish braco = humid: The Whole area Used To Be A Great Forest Before Being Exploited by medieval Christian institutions.

This the phenotype of the France-based Southwest, more and more scarce as it sinks towards the Massif Central. Méditerranpïde on this canvas, one encounters a variant characterized by a highly localized and large puffy nose, a jaw also wide, ears, eyes distant, ... This is a common type in SW France which gets rarer as one penetrates into deep Massif Central. On such Mediterranoid canvas, one can notice the existence of a very localized variant characterized by a puffy and large nose, large jaws, jug ears, ... It is a very typical phenotype which happen to be found on some occasions in neighbouring Auvergne : we have yet to define its true extension.

guyenne is the type par excellence, as I could in other regional samples classify as more brachymorphic variant of the first type and intermediate types with Alpine, this amounts the same except that it is very dominant here where a class by itself. On trouve enfin un type plutôt féminin - caractérisé par des traits réduits (nez concave, ...) et une complexion plus claire - que l'on dit généralement "alpin/subnordique".

This is the archetypal Guyennais type that I may have classified as a more brachymorphic variant of Type 1 in other regional samples : it doesn't change its intermediate character announcing Alpinoid types except that it is quite prevailing in that area hence why I "promote" him. I'll give coherence to my typology in summary articles I have yet to write.

Eventually, a rather feminine type - Characterized by Reduced features (concave nose, ...) and a lighter complexion - Generally named "Alpinid / Subnordid" Can Be Noticed.
