Montaigu Vendee (Poitou)

It is usually the territory of modern Ambilatres in the department of Vendée, - whose name true is the Bas-Poitou - territory which was subsequently attached to the City des Pictons. La région de Montaigu est un carrefour entre Bretagne et Poitou, bien que culturellement le Pays de Retz breton et les marches poitevines relèvent de la même culture oïlique, dite poitevine-saintongeaise, entre Loire et Gironde.

The territory of the Ambilatri - eventually annexed to the city of the Pictones - is generally believed to be situated in the borders of the modern département of Vendée the true name of which is Lower Poitou. The region of Montaigu is at the junction of Brittany and Poitou, even though Pays de Retz in Brittany and the northern Poitevin marshes do belong to the same cultural oïlic sphere dubbed "Poitevin-Saintongeais", inbetween the Loire and The Gironde rivers.

The contrast with the region surrounding Clisson is striking: if the type is also dominant type leptomorphic we can only note the difference in terms of "complexion" Clisson and between Montaigu, Montaigu being noticeably clearer when Clisson is very homogeneous materials of brown people. In addition, individuals are significantly dinaromorphiques Montague, which is not the case at Clisson. We are here in a classic Vendée variability grasped already here. However, we obviously encounter individuals of darker complexion. The contrast

With Neighbouring Clisson IS STRIKING: even though The Main type IS leptomorphic in Both samples, the Difference One Can record as far as complexion Concerned IS, Montague Being noticeably lighter Than Clisson Which WAS Quite homogeneously dark. Furthermore, people are in Montaigu Quite dinaromorphic Contrary to What Was Noticed in Clisson. This is a more classical Vendan variability. Undoubtedly enough, Darker Individuals are found as well.

Clisson: Loire-Atlantique (UK)

It seems clear that the left bank of the Loire was formerly a possession Pictave, specifically Ambilâtres whose capital was Ratiatum (currently Rézé). The area will also influence in the Bas-Poitou to the ninth century, when it was annexed to Britain. Unlike the coast, the names do not leave here glimpse implantation Breton.

It Is Widely Accepted That The Left Bank of the Loire River Used To Be a Pictavian possession, has more Precisely territoire Ruled By The Ambilatri Whose capital Ratiatum WAS (Modern Rézé). The area still was part of Lower Poitou when it was annexed by Brittany in the IXth century. Contrary to what can be noticed on the coast, placenames do not allow us to detect Breton settlements.

Fronton: Haute-Garonne (Languedoc)

The assumptions are the latest of the city of Toulouse, a creation of people, probably of Aquitaine, before the Tolosates that they could be dislodged from their oppidum Old Toulouse who watched the confluence of the Garonne and Ariège Volques Tectosages by the third century BC. This explains the famous two-headedness of Toulouse between a left bank of the Garonne Gascony, heir stand Aquitaine, Languedoc and right bank, in contact with the Mediterranean via the threshold Naurouze (see map gasconnité Toulouse).

It is unclear whether the Tarn was an ethnic boundary north of Toulouse between a tribe and Volques unknown territory which would have the Tarn valley.

The Most Recent hypotheses explain thats the city of Toulouse WAS Founded By The Tolosates - Probably Quite year Aquitanian tribe - Who Were Expelled subsequently by the Celtic oppidum Their Volcae Tectosages from Toulouse in Old Overlooking The Confluence Of The Garonne and Ariege rivers In The 3rd century BC. This Is The root event for The Famous bicephalism of the town, the left bank - heir to Aquitanian peopling - being Gascon-speaking, while the right bank, linked to the Mediterranean through the Seuil de Naurouze (see Map of gasconity in Toulouse ) is Languedocian-speaking.

North of Tolosa, it is quite uneasy to know whether the Tarn river constituted an ethnic border between the Volcae and an unknown tribe whose territory would have been the Tarn valley.
