Candied Walnuts Emerald

Affliction (Schrader)

A good film "gay" (1998), lol!
No, just kidding, there ... For as we can already suppose with the sinister cover of the DVD as well as the choice of these four excellent actors (rarely found in comedies, it must be said), it is actually of an immense tragedy based on a powerful novel Russell Banks , and frankly, a movie far less known than he deserves (even an Oscar Nominations and 2):

history to be honest, Paul Schrader has rarely been known as a filmmaker, although as a writer, he has always had the greatest admiration for Martin Scorsese , which he designed at least four films (including the very giant To Tomb open, which I love above all)!

Anyway, I personally find this movie not only very moving, but very well built, very well performed, and produced a rather original way, with a phobia of the color design almost worthy of Stanley Kubrick (if not inspired by him) ... other words, one could almost analyze the work as not based almost exclusively on the blue (at night, depression), red (anger & blood) and white (virginity, but perhaps also death?), option visible from the opening credits and during the very first shots:

Particularly when the initial stage already "hard", where the officer Wade Whitehouse (Nick Nolte , which I love), already quarreled with his parents, away from his brother and his wife divorced, is a bonus way to miss the rare relationship with his daughter, he sees less and less frequently:

one hand, he seems to want to try everything:

But on the other hand, it misses the main course, even if guilty because of it somewhere (surprise, indeed, this attitude has been something almost back to 100% in the famous French film collective Paris I love you, where Nick Nolte plays an extremely close, especially since in this very short, as I called it Vincent and lives next to the famous Parc Monceau , lol!):

Early in the film, in fact, merely seeing the face of crazy Nick Nolte completely "next to plate "of his own job by rethinking the words of his daughter, we say that one should perhaps not go further

What Paul Schrader does not hesitate to inform us by this strange plan (which may have inspired David Lynch in Mulholland Drive ?):

Initially, the screenplay is based on a yet theorem rather simple: the very unexpected death of one of the political friends of Mayor Gordon Larivière (Holmes Osborne ), in a strange deer led by Jack Hewitt (Jim True ) ... But in this case, nothing better to launch the fantasies of Wade Whitehouse to 100 km / h:

Poor Wade, who now spends much of his time imagining what has been happening (from this point of view, the film is very famous enough to think Memento by Christopher Nolan):

And bonus relive the images of his traumatic childhood with his terrifying daemon father ( James Coburn), spending most of his time drinking liters of alcohol, to humiliate his wife and hit his own children:

Also that classical music, the Allegro a symphony gives very often as a result Adagio more soothing, the death of the mother of Wade after an hour of film will finally deliver the opportunity for the family exploded to meet again - especially with Rolf Whitehouse ( Willem Dafoe), the brother of Wade

One of the very few shots of the film in daylight (which is why I said at the outset that white could possibly raise the dead):

As one of the only plans (if not only) where you can see at the same time the four famous actors of the film:

Alas, from there, as well as in a symphony, where Adagio the middle is almost always followed by a very stirred (and often violent) Final , everything will eventually degrade very quickly in a way, say, rather lamentable

which, of course, I can not say anything again, history will not be charged again to write a "spoiler"

Otherwise at the end, after the brain Wade has turned full around in vain assumptions just as "barges" as each other, his father will still eventually die for good, after having scolded one last time:

now very powerful symbols: 1) at the end of the film, Wade, although not responsible for the death of his father, still decide to finally put the fire all his ramshackle house (used for the director, to intervene only at this time the colors yellow and orange, never seen before):

2) And unfortunately, continue to involve also Wade obviously her life as it was already lonely and abandoned in other words, the brain devoured by the flames, and body devoured by alcohol (and tobacco, yes, dsl, I am also a specialist of the latter!):

In summary, whether to have the faint of heart, I always regarded this film as an absolute masterpiece , very black, of course, but on the other side very clean, extremely well constructed, acted, filmed and directed ...

After all, no matter produce dozens of creations, if none of them would prove worth to survive time ... Better not make one that everyone will admire always 10 or 20 years, 50 years or 100 years later (as, inter alia, very rare Wolfen Michael Wadleigh, or génialissime 2001, A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick )!

Or even 300 years later, as too sublime works of our great Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), unavoidable, of course ...

Descuidos De Denise Milani

GRAN TORINO (Eastwood)

Another masterpiece (of course) ...
The latest film by Clint Eastwood in 2008, released in France January 9, 2009, in which he handed to the actor playing a very convincing (though he had decided not to do since Million Dollar Baby )! All I hope is that Grand Torino will not be his last movie, and despite its current 79 years, it will be capable of doing as the famous Portuguese director Manoel de Oliveira , which could continue this year to the hundreds (if only) ...
As a very "gay", this film starts on the funeral of his beloved wife:

Ceremony during which he seems to show contempt towards everyone, as a former military, beginning with his own granddaughter (who does not dress as they wish):

not forget the very young priest, in large part because of her youth and her virginity unavoidable, it is obviously a moron absolute

On some ways, this could of course be totally sinister show ... But to exaggerate the strength of cynicism, just when the film brushes do not have some form of humor at the outset, notably whenever that Eastwood allows himself - with a sort of routine greatly exaggerated - to criticize someone and then spit a big piece of it , lol!

we go, I shower on my family attended the burial:

And I spit, out of habit:

sheaf I on my grand- babe ready for one thing, wait until I peg out to bite me my receipt, the famous Gran Torino :

So, poof , I spit:

regerbe And I finally hit on a good all my neighbors to the east that I hate:

we go, another good spit for the road:

short, everything seems so exaggerated early voluntarily, it is ultimately quite comforting, somehow ... Until we arrive, after twenty minutes on a stage already much more tense, one where a young Chinese neighbors Clint Eastwood ( Thao ) is beginning to threaten Highland Park (Michigan ) by a bunch of crazy black guys well:

worry save in extremis by the band just as crazy of his own cousin (he tends to wary from the outset):

Band that will unfortunately require him however to integrate them by showing "balls", ie trying to prick the famous Gran Torino of Eastwood :

thing that will happen rather badly:

Fortunately no death, which was still two fingers to happen for good:

Otherwise that after just one hour, that's where the movie will start to swing slowly on the other hand, again following an assault which will be very limited risk Sue (sister of Thao ) and his "guy" Irish, again by a gang of blacks:

And if by some miracle, Eastwood (ie Mr. Kowalsky in this film, great tribute to the great Vanishing Point of Sarafian ) had not come across in the corner, everything would have been very end badly:

is the time I finally make you share my perspective as a musician (even if you do not want) is that I always thought that s it's in the cinema a single Johann Sebastian Bach (in my opinion, the absolutely perfect Stanley Kubrick, who almost created itself all the "new" styles of the world, with powerful symbolism and a mania hallucinations), there is now also a Ludwig Van Beethoven , a composer associated with the revolution of 1789 to focus all his works without exception passionate about the struggle between the instincts of good and evil, the anguish between hatred and love, the desire to make higher mind to the unconscious ... And of course (I think you'll agree with me), this represents the basis of 90% of Eastwood films , do not you think?

Still, having arrived in the middle of the film, Clint Eastwood after accidentally saved the small Sue , begins to think that, ultimately, his neighbor would quite nice and funny (well, more than his own son and grandchildren):

even very nice, inviting him by chance at a big Chinese meal:

against all odds, he will end up as love a madman:

Without even counting the serious criticism that he began to swing Thao , despite its small kindness, began to be (just as in Million Dollar Baby , I found this film very close) it's just so paternal instinct was not trying to wake him, lol!

phenomenon will be further when the mother has Thao ( Vu) and his sister Sue will force the boy to to atone for his attempted theft of the famous Gran Torino , Offir of free work week for their "generous" neighbor Mr. Kowalski:

Sure, all at the beginning, we can say that Clint Eastwood will do well with big shit job:

But a few more days, and it just does not get " loved his kid, "unlike his two" real "children, he despises more:

Perhaps for this, he will still not bad work, including the famous title of the film, Gran Torino (actually, a famous car from Ford between 1968 and 1976) :

But as a big return, Clint Eastwood not hesitate one second to recommend it to one of his friends in the building:

Well, I'll stop there, because I've already said too much - although it is not really a spoiler, at least I think ... Because if we advance further, this absolutely does not like the ending very optimistic Ninth Symphony of Beethoven , but rather as the tragic fourth Brahms, or the terrifying sixth Mahler:

If the ultimate plan (guess what led the small Thao, with the young bitch Daisy of Clint Eastwood ?):

Plan, which, personally, I felt extremely close to the latest plan Terminator (the One, of course, that of James Cameron ), again responsible hopeful towards life ...

All I hope is that:

1) You have loved this movie ...

2) You'll probably love it if you did (stupidly) not yet seen ...

3) And as you might as well appreciate the fact that finally (FINALLY ! ), I return after several months of absence on my blog Cinema, which I now carries the article into several days, which is much less than bursting my bad habit of previous years, what ...

In summary: do not forget to first consult the index (something like 54 films in total)!
